Job Title: Heavy Duty Truck UpfitterPosition Summary
The Heavy Duty Truck Upfitter is responsible for installing, modifying, and customizing components on commercial trucks and fleet vehicles to meet customer specifications and operational requirements. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of tools, equipment, and systems including electrical, hydraulic, and structural components.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install truck-mounted equipment such as toolboxes, liftgates, cranes, hoists, lighting systems, and specialty bodies.
- Perform electrical wiring, including installation of harnesses, switches, lighting, and auxiliary systems.
- Fabricate and modify parts using welding, cutting, and drilling equipment as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Mount and secure components to truck frames and bodies according to specifications.
- Ensure all installations meet safety standards and company quality expectations.
- Troubleshoot and repair upfitted components and systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and occasionally customers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience in truck upfitting, heavy-duty mechanical work, or related field preferred.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Basic knowledge of 12V/24V electrical systems.
- Welding experience (MIG preferred) is a plus.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment with varying temperatures.
Work Environment:
- Shop-based environment with exposure to noise, dust, and mechanical hazards.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with hydraulic systems.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with DOT compliance standards.

Experience:
- Welding: 3 years (Required).
License/Certification:
- Welding Certification (Preferred).
- CDL A (Preferred).
